PENGARUH METODE MAKE A MATCH TERHADAP KEMAMPUAN SKILL PERAWATAN LUKA DASAR PADA ANAK USIA 11 – 12 TAHUN
Abstract
The ability to take care of basic wounds plays an important role for children; in elementary school, children are sufficiently susceptible to injuries, so it is expected that health education in basic wound care can enhance children’s skills. The practice of making a match is one of the key solutions that can be implemented to improve children’s knowledge and ability to treat basic injuries. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the make-a-match method on the ability to take care of basic wounds in children aged 11–12 years old in elementary school. The design was a pre-experimental design with a one-group pre-post test design approach. This study used a total sampling technique with 20 research populations and 20 research samples. The data was obtained using an observation sheet for basic wound care. This study shows that prior to intervention, almost all of the respondents (85%) were in the medium category in their ability to take care of basic injuries. After the interventions, nearly half of the respondents (45%) were in the sufficient category. The data analysis, which used the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, obtained a p-value of 0.000 (=0.05), which suggests that there is an impact of the make-a-match method on the competence of primary injury treatment in 11–12-year-old children in elementary school. The "make a match" method is effective in improving a child’s skills as it is easier for children to capture material presented through a card consisting of writing and pictures. Therefore, it is expected for the next educators at school to apply the "make a match" method as one of the alternative learning materials to increase interest, knowledge, and children’s basic wound care skills.
