EFEKTIFITAS PENYULUHAN DALAM MENINGKATKAN KEMAMPUAN KESIAPSIAGAAN IBU MENGHADAPI PERSALINAN DI ERA PANDEMI COVID-19 DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS NEGERI LIMA KABUPATEN MALUKU TENGAH

Abstract


Pregnancy and childbirth are natural processes, but have the potential and threat of complications that can have an impact on morbidity and mortality for both the mother and the fetus. The COVID-19 pandemic has contributed to increasing the risk of threats to the mother and fetus during pregnancy, childbirth and the postpartum period. Efforts are needed to prepare for childbirth to prevent the emergence of complications, compilation or exposure to COVID-19. Good knowledge is one factor that contributes to the preparedness of pregnant women in preparing for safe deliveries in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to determine the effectiveness of counseling on maternal knowledge about childbirth preparation in the COVID-19 pandemic era. This type of analytic research is a quasi-experimental research design, pre and post test design. The population is 330 pregnant women in the third trimester in the working area of the Lima Public Health Center. A sample of 28 respondents, selected by simple random sampling. The variable in this study is a single variable in pairs, namely the mother's knowledge about childbirth preparation in the pandemic era before and after counseling. Data were collected using a questionnaire instrument. The study was carried out in the area of the Lima Public Health Center, Leihitu District, Central Maluku Regency on the third July to 7 August 2021. The data were analyzed using the Spearmen rank statistical test. The results showed that 29% of respondents' knowledge before counseling was in the poor category, 68% of respondents' knowledge after counseling was in the good category. Data analysis using the Spearmen rank statistical test obtained a p value of 0.003 which means that there are differences in respondents' knowledge about preparation for childbirth in the COVID-19 pandemic era before and after counseling. Counseling is able to spread message information, instill confidence, so that pregnant women are not only aware, know and understand, but also want to prepare for safe deliveries in the era of the COVID-19 pandemic.
