Abstract

Stunting is one of the nutritional problems that is a major concern today. The prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is still high, at 30.8%. The factors that influence the incidence of stunting are nutrition intake, history of pregnancy, birth length, birth weight, history of exclusive breastfeeding, family income and education. The purpose of this study was to describe the risk factors for stunting toddlers in Pranggang Village, Plosoklaten District, Kediri Regency. This research was conducted from December 2020 to January 2021. This type of descriptive observational research with cross sectional approach to describe birth length, birth weight and history of exclusive breastfeeding. The research subjects used were 13 stunting toddlers. Data collection in this study used a questionnaire with interview techniques to mothers of stunting toddlers. The results showed that toddlers with normal birth length were 84.6% and toddlers with short birth length were 15.4%, all toddlers had normal birth weight and 46.2% of toddlers were not exclusively breastfed and 53.8% of toddlers were breastfed. exclusive. The results of interviews with mothers of toddlers about body length at birth found that during the period of growth and development, toddlers get consumption patterns that are less precise, namely they rarely consume fruit and vegetables and children often eat snacks carelessly. The normal birth weight of a toddler who suffers from stunting occurs because of the mother's lack of attention to the child, because the mother works and the child is entrusted to a caregiver or closest family member. As well as the results of interviews about the history of exclusive breastfeeding, it was found that there were obstacles during breastfeeding, namely the milk that came out was not smooth. Suggestions for the community, especially mothers, are to pay attention to the needs of children regarding adequate nutritional consumption and provide a variety of foods so that their nutritional needs are met and increase mother's knowledge about the importance of exclusive breastfeeding.
