Abstract

Introduction: Midwifery services in the community aim to improve the health status of mothers and babies. Currently, public awareness to carry out antenatal care according to K1 and K4 standards is increasing. Early detection by the community is also increasing. Early detection and management of complications by health workers has also improved. But on the other hand, the number of pregnant women with high risk has also increased. There is a tendency for women of childbearing age to delay pregnancy and maintain a longer pregnancy interval due to economic considerations. As a result, they choose to get pregnant at the age of more than 35 years, especially for multigravidas. Pregnancies over 35 years of age are prone to problems and complications so that they are classified into high-risk pregnancies. High-risk pregnant women need a different approach and health services from normal pregnancies because monitoring must be careful and more frequent. They also need to get more intense guidance about exclusive breastfeeding because there is a tendency for pregnant women to have a high risk of labor with action. Labor by action will cause the mother to experience a long period of illness after childbirth. This will also reduce milk production and motivation of mothers to breastfeed their babies. So that it has the potential to cause the mother not to exclusively breastfeed. Methods: the activities of the research and training activities of mother and breastfeeding were carried out as a vehicle for learning and sharing among pregnant women, cadres and midwives. The material studied was about high-risk pregnancy care and exclusive breastfeeding. The activity was carried out on February 20 to 21, 2020 at the Tiru Kidul village hall, Gurah district, Kediri district. The targets of the activity were 27 pregnant women and 9 postpartum mothers. The methods used are lectures, interactive discussions, and testimonials. The media used are LCD, leaflets and pocket books. Results and discussion: the attendance of pregnant and post-partum women participants was 75%, the activeness of participants in the discussion was 77.77%, the pre-extension knowledge was 63% on average and the post-extension knowledge was 89% on average. So there is an increase of 26%. Conclusion: the extension activities carried out increased the participants' knowledge by an average of 26%.
