Abstract

Prolonged labor can increase the risk of harm to the mother and baby, including perineal laceration, post partum hemorrhage, newborn asphyxia, cerebral trauma caused by pressure on the fetal head, injury from extraction and death, which can lead to normal labor. labor with action and increased pain and infection due to delivery of the sectio caesarea. Weak uterine contractions are one of the causes of the Old II stage. This study aims to determine the differences in the duration of second stage labor between the groups that were given and not given nipple stimulation in primiparous mothers.

The research design was an experimental study with a comparative study between the nipple stimulation group and the control group. The population was all primigravida maternity mothers at PMB Ny. Dotik Sukismi, Amd.Keb Tertek Village, Pare District, Kediri Regency and PMB Ny. Muhartik, Amd. Keb Kandangan. as many as 20 people were selected by the total sampling technique. 10 respondents were not given nipple stimulation and 10 respondents were given nipple stimulation. The data were obtained by observing the duration of second stage labor and were collected using the data collection sheet from 17 July to 26 August 2020 at PMB Ny. Dotik Sukismi, Amd.Keb Tertek Village, Pare District and PMB Ny. Muhartik, Amd.Keb Kandangan District, Kediri Regency

The results showed that 6 respondents (60.0%) who were not given nipple stimulation experienced slow stage II labor and 8 respondents (80.0%) who were given nipple stimulation experienced rapid labor. The results of the analysis of the free sample T test data obtained the sig (2-tailed) p-value: 0,000 and the error level (): 0.05, so p < so that H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted, meaning that there is a difference in the duration of labor to the second stage not given nipple stimulation in primiparous mothers.

The stimulation of the nerve endings in the nipples and the areola of the mammary causes the posterior pituitary to secrete oxytocin into the circulation, causing the myometrium to contract. Stimulation or stimulation of the nipples can help increase the intensity of uterine contractions which can speed up the labor process.
