Abstract
Breastfeeding is a common practice for mothers with babies aged 0-6 months. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted access to health services for mothers and children, which has resulted in a decrease in providing exclusive breastfeeding. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the place of delivery and early initiation of breastfeeding and breastfeeding during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study used a retrospective design with a cross-sectional approach. Respondents of the study were mothers breastfeeding babies 7-12 months, which may be 94 people. The research instrument used a questionnaire via a google form. The results showed a significant relationship between the place of delivery and EIB by offering breast milk during the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the place of delivery, a total of 36.2% of deliveries in independent midwife practices gave exclusive breastfeeding, 20.3% of deliveries at the public health centre gave predominant breast milk. A total of 7.4% deliveries in clinics/maternity clinic/hospital provided partial breast milk. Based on the length of the EIB, some 26.6% of respondents with a duration of EIB > 60 minutes gave exclusive breastfeeding, 17.1% of those who did EIB were given breast milk and partial breastfeeding given by 5.3% of respondents who did EIB 15 -60 minutes. Place of delivery and EIB are factors that can affect breastfeeding during the COVID-19 pandemic so that they can be used as recommendations for service facilities to improve lactation management procedures that support exclusive breastfeeding during the COVID-19 pandemic.
